What God has been teaching me lately about Prayer

1. The Act of Prayer is the Supplication

The definition of supplication is:

“A humble petition; an earnest request; an entreaty”

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

2. Faith is the Application of prayer

Our prayers are activated with Faith.

What is faith?

It is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1)

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Matthew 21:22

3. Pray in courage, boldness and thanksgiving.

We can come boldly before God with our petition, giving thanks and praise and honour.

Finally, pray according to God’s will

Jesus submitted entirely to the Father and prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

He trusted that God sees the bigger picture.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8-9
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
